Epiphany about my Houses of Hawk Run Hollow
Last night I went to my embroiderer's guild, and a lady there was working on Shores of Hawk Run Hollow. She was working it on 32ct. mushroom lugana with 2 strands of DMC. It was outragiously beautiful!!!I felt inspired to pull Houses out again when I got home, and when I did my heart sank. I realized why I have been working this so slowly and why it is not a satisfying stitch. I have been working it on 40ct. with 1 strand of silk. The coverage is really skimpy, and the fabric shows through. It looks awful. It does not have that graphic folky look like it should. I never realized it until I saw how beautiful hers was. Man!
What to do!
Do I start completely over? I only have 4 1/2 houses done, so it is not an unthinkable idea. Actually I have already decided that I AM going to start over.
Do I use 2 strands of the Soie D'Alger I have been using, and then replenish when I run out? Clearly I will not have enough for 2 strands, so this is going to be an issue. Or should I switch to good ole DMC. I can always use the silk somewhere else.I am definitely goin to stitch Shores and Village at some point, and after seeing hers in DMC, I think it looks beautiful. Hmmmm.

My new website and New Chart!
Click here to visit my new website!
I know I have been quiet on this blog lately-I apologize!! I have had life going 90 miles an hour lately!
I was in Washington DC when I got the sad news that my father-in-law passed away, that was a week ago last Friday. So we had the whole unpleasant task of funeral arrangements which fell heavily, but not solely, to my husband. We had a beautiful service on Monday.
At the same time I have been trying to meet some deadlines, get some model stitching done, and finally get my website completed and open for business! Yay! I am so happy to have a home on the web again! Please come take a look and see what you think! There are even some patterns on sale, and within the next week a new cross stitch chart!
Here is my new chart!(click on pic for a great close-up!)

Tagged
I have been tagged by the very talented doll artist, Jenny, of Wonders of Whimsy. Thank you Jenny!
I am to list 5 things that keep my mind healthy and my life balanced. Well, I hate to really do that because people usually get so offended by religion, especially orthodox religion. But my faith is the thing that keeps me balanced. I won't go into my daily norms of the faith, I will just say that I make a sincere effort to keep God at the center of my life throughout the day. It is not easy, and very often I fail, but I get up and try again every single day!
I am not going to tag anyone, if you would like to play along please just send me a reply and I would love to go and read your answer. Happy day everyone!!~Annie
