What I worked on while on vacation

apron block
detail of embroidery on pocket
Isn't this super cute? It is the first block of a quilt called Grandma's Kitchen, by Lori Holt of Bee in my Bonnet. I love love love this quilt. I am doing it in 30's and 50's conversation prints and colors. It is all hand applique using the needle turn method. There is plenty of hand stitchery to keep me happy too! I just adore this project!

Back from vacation!

Wow we did a lot of stuff in the last 2 weeks, from Niagara Falls to the Football Hall of Fame, we drove all over upstate New York, Massachusetts and back through Ohio to Indiana for a basketball tournament for Aidan. Whew! The best part was our 5 day stay in Gloucester,Ma. where we stayed at an Inn on the ocean-so beautiful! We noodled all over Cape Ann and did some antiquing-what fun! There was a sad lack of quilt shops though, I must say! We also visited a lot of shrines, Our Lady of Fatima shrine in New York being one of our favorites. I am definitely refreshed and ready to get back to work-though I am still steadfastly denying the approach of "back to school"!!!

St. Anthony-the most decorated statue out of the hundreds at this shrine! He's my guy!
Our view outside our inn at Gloucester

Aidan and Chelsea goofing around in Essex. We had such a fun time antiquing together!

Fun day at the Fair!

Next it was on to the poultry barn, where I was able to indulge myself looking at all of the breeds I hope to one day own. I adore chickens and hope to have my own layers someday!
I really liked this Roo! I wish I could have gotten a better picture of him, but he wouldn't stop his crazy dinosaur dance!

This sweet little calf is so pretty! And I am in LOVE with Jersey cows! They are beautiful, soft, gentle and affectionate! Oh I want...I want...!!
