1808 Colonial Pinkeepers for sale

These are the actual models for the cover of my cross stitch chart by the same name. Once their modeling session was over they have been languishing in my model drawer, hoping I would remember them and put them up for adoption to a good home!
Prices are ridiculously reasonable, bordering on outrageous!
They are available at TDIPT Mercantile this month.

Color tinting

I am doing a sort of study on color tinting. You know, its when you add color to your stitchery with either crayons or colored pencil. This is a design by
Meg Hawkey of Crabapple Hill.
It was lots of fun to do!

Then I decided to try it on a design of my own.  I began with crayons, coloring in the whole background with white and then adding the color.
Then I added the stitching and some colored pencil detail. I couldn't stop there and ended up using watercolor pencils.

When I am finished the whole thing will be heat set with and iron, pressing from the back onto a piece of scrap muslin (in case some of the color comes off)
What do you think?

What I worked on while on vacation

apron block
detail of embroidery on pocket
Isn't this super cute? It is the first block of a quilt called Grandma's Kitchen, by Lori Holt of Bee in my Bonnet. I love love love this quilt. I am doing it in 30's and 50's conversation prints and colors. It is all hand applique using the needle turn method. There is plenty of hand stitchery to keep me happy too! I just adore this project!

Pattern writing and taking a trip!

I am busy writing the pattern for this piece.
But first, I am taking a short trip to Cincinnati, from Wednesday, June 23 to Sunday, June 27. I will not have computer access while I am away. I will be happy to answer any and all correspondence on Monday June 28. See you then!!!

A little piecing going on

NOW, how do I quilt it?

To answer Nancy's question, yes this is my original design. Thank you for asking!

Edited to add:
Yes I will be marketing this design, and you guessed it, it is the first of a series of seasonal pillows. Thank you so much for your comments and questions, it really helps to keep me enthused as I work here in my studio alone. :)

Tea

First of all, thank you for all of the dear comments about our beloved dog whom we lost this week. I appreciate your sentiments so much. He will be missed, and after 17 years it is just weird not to have him here! There is definitely an emptiness without him.

I love tea! I love to make myself a pot of tea in the afternoon, sit down and pick up my latest embroidery. I do not have a nice tea set, what I do have is a mish-mash of tea components that do not match! I have a silver tea tray(not real silver), a blue floral tea pot, a little glass creamer, a pink floral tea bag holder(which I usually use to set my spoon on) and a set of real china tea cups from Japan with a gorgeous rose pattern(which my mother-in-law brought from Japan when she came here and has now given to me). But I enjoy this little collection almost every day.I am saving up to buy this tea set:

I really like these:
I have ordered the pattern and intend to make these for myself. I love the Crab Apple Hill patterns-they are all so cute! Do you ever do this type of stitchery? I like it as a break from cross stitch once in a while. I goes very, very fast. It seems I always get the urge to do this type of stitchery in the summer.
And almost every August I get the urge to work on a quilt.I never finish any quilt though, maybe this will be the year! I have one started from last year, a Blackbird design. I should really drag it out and get started on it.
Well thanks for putting up with my meandering thoughts. :)
